Arriving at Villa II

A pool that runs the full length of the house

The path in is lit long after dark, past the entrance and straight along the pool's edge — the water runs almost the full length of the house, glass-fenced so nothing blocks the view. At 1.6 metres it's deep enough for real laps, and built into one side is a sunken sitting spot with water jets — press the button and the massage jets kick in right where you're sitting. By night the whole pool glows, lit from below, the kind of scene that looks just as good in a photo as it does in person. Under the stone pergola, a dining table waits in the shade, close enough to the water to hear it while you eat.

Step inside

Two full floors to spread out across

The lower-ground and ground floors each have their own complete kitchen, living room and dining area — one group can cook breakfast while another sleeps in, without anyone stepping over each other. Upstairs, the bedrooms are dressed in soft linen and warm lighting, towels folded and waiting, each with its own bathroom.

The ground-floor living room opens straight onto the pool through a full glass window that slides back completely, and a second door leads directly out to the stone balcony — so the living room can be as open or as closed off as you want it.

Life outside

Small garden, serious BBQ setup

A real BBQ is set into the back terrace, complete with its own small fridge and sink close at hand, so cooking outside never means running back inside for something you forgot. A small patch of planting softens the terrace, and pergola seating stays shaded through the afternoon — the kind of space that feels made for slow evenings rather than big gestures.

Where you'll actually be

Close to the good parts of Kalamaki, far from the noise

Kalamaki's own beach — one of the marine park's protected turtle-nesting beaches — is a 6-minute drive, and boat trips to spot loggerheads offshore leave regularly from Laganas. Laganas Beach and Kalamaki Crazy Golf are both a 3-minute drive. Zakynthos Town, with its Venetian-era squares and waterfront tavernas, is about 13 minutes away, and the unspoiled coves of Vasilikos — Gerakas, Porto Roma, Banana Beach — are roughly 25-30 minutes south. The airport is 4-5 minutes away, so late arrivals and early flights don't eat into the holiday.

Navagio (Shipwreck Beach) is a real day-trip, not a stroll — you can't drive down to the cove itself, but a short drive up gets you to the clifftop viewpoint for that iconic photo overlooking the bay.

Some evenings, the only plan worth making is which end of the pool to sit at.
